Have I told you about my new favourite commercial? OK, maybe not my favourite, but it makes me laugh, therefore it's good.
It's the "Energizer" one where these two aliens with this really cool arms-as-legs-and-legs-as-arms thing happening are trying to get a car to stop and give them a boost- apparently the battery on their flying saucer died. I like to think they were 'parking' on Earth, the back road of the solar-system, but that's just my theory. Anyway, the Energizer Bunny comes along and hooks up jumper cables (HA! Bunny... jumper? Get it?) to his ears and gives the spaceship the much needed boost, and off fly the grateful aliens.
Here's why it's funny: As the Energizer Bunny is charging the intergalactic battery, it says (in very small letters) at the bottom of the screen: "Dramatization." Are there actually people out there who were going to try to charge flying saucers with these batteries (or better yet, with a pink rabbit)?!! You know there's some guy out there going, "Dang- I gots te git me some of them thar batt'ries. Mebbe if ah kin give them ay-lee-yens a boost next tahm, they won't stick that thar probe up mah backside agin." They had to put the disclaimer on the commercial so he wouldn't sue if and when it didn't work.
These are the things I think about when I'm watching TV commercials. Sad? Yes. Amusing? Usually.
